About

Hello! I’m Maria and I live and work in Wiltshire.

I have been fascinated by optics and light ever since I can remember, influenced by kaleidoscopes and telescopes. Transmission, reflection, refraction, and diffraction of light have influenced choices throughout my life from reading physics and applied physics at university, to becoming my creative inspiration. I am currently studying for a BA (Hons) Graphic Design degree at the Open College of the Arts (OCA).

I started as a stained-glass artist but felt I needed to manipulate the colours, textures, and styles of glass. So began my passion with kiln formed fused glass. I have been working with warm glass for 12 years, but I never grow tired of playing with light and colour to achieve the effect I am after.

I’ve tried my hand at glass-blowing once or twice, but always return to my kiln.

I have a small studio at home and am the proud owner of Gerta, a Nabertherm GF75 kiln. I exclusively use Bullseye Glass in my work and an app called Kiln Helper to track my creative processes.

If you would like to talk to me about a custom commission, please fill in a contact enquiry.
